Wheimeng's latest blog entry greatly inspires me. It made me to look into the obstacles of my life and career.

Visionaries, dreamers, procrastinators.

I'm definitely not the third one. And I'm still struggling to be a real visionary who can transform visions into reality. She's right, somehow, I'm one who lacks actions but just words.

I'm an analyzer. I like to analyze things and to improve the entire process. So looking into it again and after talking with Wheimeng, I'll say I'm one who needs to scope down and start tackling the dreams. I have 1000 dreams, but just 10 realities.

I'm a paranoid, I'm not comfortable with what I'm having now.

No, I didn't really cut my hair, just trying to make it to look more tidy as I'll be going for some dinner within these few weeks. So.. I actually asked MC (my hair stylist) just now about the way to make my hair to grow faster, her answer is:

Gaming was part of my life and had left behind. A gaming friend's blog, reminded me about the old times. So I want to write something about myself, who knows, maybe someone who's reading this blog entry, might have met me long time ago in online gaming.

Story

PhantomD (usually phantomd) was a possible schizophrenic and marginally retarded 20-year-old man in the non-fiction At Large: the Strange Case of the World's Biggest Internet Invasion. I started using this nickname after selling my Gunbound account on Ebay. The initial reason of selling the account was to quit the game, apparently I failed to and was addicted to its technical mastery.

Gunbound

What is Gunbound?
GunBound is a turn-based artillery game similar to the popular Worms series and the genre defining Scorched Earth. GunBound is a two-dimensional ballistics-simulation game. In GunBound, players are assigned to opposing teams that take turns firing at each other with their tanks (called "mobiles" in GunBound parlance).

I discovered some guides online which explained the methods of increasing shooting accuracy, I was not satisfied with them as they are deduced from empirical findings. I spent some time to relearn my algebra and trajectory, started off with GNU Plot, and created a set of high accuracy tools for formula deduction.

I created a set of formulas and guides, contributed to the community, joined the No. 1 guild - ㅋㅌㅌㄴ, won the KL championship and ended my Gunbound journey after that.

My way of formula deduction was a secret. No one could write and publish accurate formulas (an almost 100% hit-rate like an aimbot) as many as I did in the shortest time and you hardly find people discussed about the game from technical point of view - calculation, gravity, mass, etc. The said high accuracy tools were plotting tool written in C# and formula/indexes "on-the-fly" generator written in Java.

Some people called me professor, some called me nerd, and some called me cheater. But whatever it is, these are the few things I learned from the game:

Champions do not become champions when they win the game, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it.
Thinking out of the box is a must-do in order to make an impact to your current situation
It is boring to be a regular player

MapleStory

What is MapleStory?
MapleStory is a free, 2D, side-scrolling Massively Multiplayer Online Game developed by the Korean company Wizet.

In the game, players defend the "Maple World" from monsters and develop their character's skills and abilities, as in typical role-playing games. Players can interact with others in many ways, such as through chatting, trading, and playing minigames. Groups of players can band together in "parties" to hunt monsters and share the rewards. Players can also band in a guild to interact more easily with each other.

MapleStory is a boring MMORPG which I dived into after quitting Gunbound. You can't apply physics and mathematical knowledge into it as compared with Gunbound as they are two totally different game.

I had a college mate to accompany me in this game, a programming freak as well, Kah Yin (aka Ava). I named myself Rivera (still known as PhantomD in the community due to my previously established reputation) and played as a female Page, a rare character class.

I quit this game and online gaming entirely before my final year second semester started, I was the highest level Page in South East Asia.

These are a few things I learned in this game:

Diving into a game by taking advantage of its current market conditions
Creating blue ocean, making competition irrelevant, e.g. doing something rare
Winners do not do it alone but do as a team

Velvet > Beach Club

Roger, one of our most outgoing colleagues, flew over to KL last week. At Saturday night, we went to Luna Bar (together with Kris, Terry and bunch of his friends), which was the initial plan. We couldn't make it as Roger was actually wearing shorts. (Not really that short! Which is why I do not like for ladies it would have even been alright to wear nothing) Five of us out of the ten+, then, headed to Thai Club as suggested by some of them, we have CC and his girlfriend to join us as well.

I couldn't feel liking the environment, both levels were horrible. I took twice visiting the ground floor, seeing chubby bitches dancing on the dance floors didn't really make me annoyed, but I felt leaving the place and soon, as planned, received phone calls from Zhanshen to join him, Whei Meng and Su Hao at Velvet Underground.

Busy, busy and busy. A place full of people to be seen, particularly, divas. To rate? Thai Club vs. Velvet = 40% vs. 110%. 'Nuff said.

Busy but Happy

Ever since I left Malaysia for my job, 'til now I'm back here, I have not been free to blog or to hang out with friends. Sorry about that.

Anyway, the 1-month time in Sydney was really enriching, especially the working culture, which in Malaysia is nowhere near as relaxing as there, as working hours are short (but better efficiency and planning) and people are friendly and helpful. As you may ask, why were you there - part of my jobs is to be a support engineer for the professional issue tracker - Atlassian-JIRA, which Apache is using.

Pubs, bars, and hotels are the usual place we went for lunch or dinner. I definitely miss the various beers I have had over there - Alice Ale, Carlton Draught, Cooper Brewery, Crown Lager, Corona Extra, Guinness, Toohey, Victoria Bitter; alcohol drinks - Long Isle Iced Tea (vodka, tequila, rum, gin, triple sec), Tequila Straight.. Anyway, as souvenir for Whei-Meng and my high school buddies, I bought two bottles of Chivas Regal in the duty free zone before I departed. (;

We were staying in a nice apartment facing the harbour. And guess what? My colleague - Terry threw three weekend parties in these 4~5 weeks time. I spent some of my weekends at different places, twice of the Sundays I was in Pastow to look for my dad's pal - Dominic, and one of the weekends, I was in Melbourne to visit my uncle and his family. I went to the Olympic /Telstra stadium too, for the Bulldog vs. Knight game, invaluable experience!

A day before I flied, I was shopping at QVB with my female colleague - Mei-Yan, buying stuffs for family and friends. We (colleagues) had our last party that night and went down to King's Cross in the midnight, fun!

Too much to write about, and I will probably stop here. I am ready for the 73-lap Indianapolis GP going live in 1h 30m, which the Ferraris dominated yesterday in the qualifying session.

My first week in Melbourne has been over, everything here is cool especially the weather and people. I'm right now staying at Berry Street, and working at George Street. As usual, I was busy throughout the week, and so.. whatever it is, I will keep this blog updated and will be uploading some pictures once I'm back in Malaysia.

Yuenqi to Go Sydney

I will be staying in Sydney for a month, leaving my house in an hour time. It is a business trip, I will be sent there with my colleague Terry for training and such.

Anyway, interesting weekend in Nurburgring, I will count Honda out from the competition, and three ouf of the big four will be giving us a good show (McLaren may not, according to how Kimi blamed the handling of the car).

Bridgestone Teams Shine

Michael Schumacher had a sublime performance in the free practices and closed the day with a fastest lap record. The other Bridgestone teams looked competitive too in the free practices, notably, Christian Albers of MF-1 Toyota was one of the competitive ones.

The three-week break was funny, the tabloids could not stop talking about the new contract of Schumi, Kimi, Montoya, etc. The most ridiculous one was Flavio Briatore wanted Schumi to join Renault in 2007. Flavio smirked to respond to it.

Basically, most teams have upgraded the chasis, revised the engine and spent number of time in tyre development. Ferrari is expected to be competitive throughout the weekend, due to Schumi's outstanding performance last year: drove the worst car they have ever had, qualified fourteenth but won second with only a 0.2 second gap with the then champion Fernando Alonso.

Went to have dinner at Wasabi Bistro (Mandarin Oriental) with colleagues, it was fun. Have you been there? It was my first time.

Anyway, I haven't had the time to blog since the day I started working. My company, CustomWare, based in Sydney. We focus majorly on webMethods, J2EE (Java EE), and other enterprise solutions. I'm sure there are a lot for me to learn in this company.

How many schools did I go to?
School? I am a guy, but I studied in a primary girl school. I entered Chonghwa Independent High School when I was 12, spent 7 years (form 1 to 6 plus upper 6) there. ~~I completed my Computer Science diploma in Tayor's College, and graduated from University of Nottingham's (Malaysia Campus) school of computing as a Bachelor of Computing and Information Systems.~~

Was I the studious nerd, or the last minute hero?
Last minute hero, yea. Pretty good in school wide examinations, but usuaully screwed up in nation wide examinations, i.e. PMR, SPM, STPM.

Was I the class ‘taiko’ or the teacher’s pet?
English teacher’s pet. Outside English slot, I’m a typical “weird” student.

What was the biggest rule I broke in school?
Two things, 1. I mentioned this in my old blog, I caused a complete shutdown to the school's electricity provision. 2. I was rebellious (it was form 3), I threw a chalk at my teacher when she was stepping out of the classroom (as she scolded me before that in the class), anyway, it hit her ass, I didn't know I could aim that well.

Just a few minutes ago, the pole sitter Jenson Button blew his car 20 yards before the crossing line, giving his 4 points to Giancarlo Fisichella.

It was a bad Sunday for Juan Pablo Montoya and Michael Schumacher too, who both pushed too hard to overtake and retired their car at Turn 16, the former one had an electronic problem after going wide, the latter one had a understeer and crashed his car.

Massa Screwed Up Again

Jenson Button topped the Saturday qualification with fastest lap time 1:25:229 and won his third Formula 1 career pole. Montoya was the last man on the track who was able to outpace Button, however, with a few mistakes at the last corners and the hairpin, he could only put himself at the 5th place.

Employed: Java Developer

I have not been updating my blog these days, except with Formula 1 news. Anyway, let me recap what have happened this week.

Monday - Went to Shin-Etsu for an interview. An interesting job, I will have the chance to involve in low level (RPG, COBOL, AL) and high level (C/C++, C#.NET) development, but the distance is just too far for me (Setapak to Shah Alam).

Tuesday - Went for my third interview with Customware. I did some study on Jakarta POI-HSSF too.

Wednesday - I received an offer from Customware. I will be working for them starting the coming Monday.

Thursday - Spent some time on OpenOffice SDK. Went to Mid Valley to buy sleeves and pants with mom in the evening.

Friday - Mid Valley again. This time I was there with Elaine, her sister and Ryan. Watched V for Vendetta, liked the movie, Portman and Weaving.

Saturday - My sister brought us to a studio for some shots. She had her convocation last week.

Tomorrow will be a busy day too, going to meet Dr. Ooi and James at Nilai. I will be blogging again, hopefully.

1-2 Finish for Renault and 1-2-3-4 Finish for Michelin

Giancarlo Fisichella and Fernando Alonso brought home 18 precious championship points for Renault in the Malaysian Grand Prix. Jenson Button could not outdo himself to overtake Alonso and only managed to earn a third-place podium finish.

Both Williams' drivers, Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg, faced a disappointing afternoon, having their Cosworth engine blown up in the midst of the race. McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen had a contact with Redbull's Christian Klien; the flying finn retired straight after the accident, and once again, he was out of luck.

It showed little sign of rain but it faded away as the race progressed (down from 50%+ to 40%+ humidity), however, in Kuala Lumpur (the place I stay), it has rained twice since 2pm.

Anyway, both Ferrari drivers started from the middle and back of the grid, and managed to score 7 points in the Constructor's ranking. Felippe Massa did a wicked 1-stop strategy to beat his team mate Michael Schumacher with less than 1 second ahead.

Up to this point, Renault are leading in the Constructor's ranking (28 points) with 13 points ahead of McLaren and Ferrari (15 points).

Giancarlo Fisichella earned his 3rd pole position in his career in the closing stage of the qualifying session, closely followed by Jenson Button and the super-rookie Nico Rosberg. Michael Schumacher, however, will be dropped to 14th position on the grid due to his engine change before the qualifying session. He finished 4th and disappointingly missed the chance to set the record of most pole position setter.

Apparently, there wasn't any development after the Bahrain GP and we can expect very little obvious improvement on the cars that will be racing on the track this week.

At the time of writing, the teams are having their first practice of the week. Most people were being pretty optimistic in responding the media yesterday, except the unlucky David Coulthard who has to face the ten-place grid penalty after his car crossed the line and faced an engine failure last week in Bahrain. Coulthard is not the only victim of the rule though, Felippe Massa changed his engine as well after an post-race examination, however, Massa has a stronger car to outdo himself.

Spectators are anticipating few highlights in Malaysian GP: Will the v8 engines survive under the extreme hot weather of Malaysia? Will Schumacher break Senna's pole-position record? Will Nico Rosberg surprise us again? Which team will be first in the constructor's ranking after this week?...

Alonso Beat Schumacher by a Second

Fernando Aloso beat Michael Schumacher by 1.2 second of time in the first 2006 Formula One Grand Prix, thanks to the Renault team in the paddock and their brilliant tactic. :S Schumi could have overtaken Alonso, who faced problem with his brake in the close end of the game but managed to pull back from it on clean tracks without being baulked by back-markers.

Two other men on the track who caught my attention were Kimi Raikonen who ended third on the podium despite starting from the end of the grid and Nico Rosberg who played a fantastic debut. It was, however, a disappointing afternoon for Fellipe Massa who was on the wheel of F248 for the first time in an official game for Ferrari. He had a terrible pit stop in the very beginning and forced to get stuck in the middle. As for his country fella, Ruben Barichello, it was not a good race to him either, he suffered gear box problem which caused him to use only 6 out of the 7 available gears. I pity Giancarlo Fisichella the most, he is the person with worst luck, as he has to live under the shadow of Renault's inconsistency. He had 6 retirements last season, and today, he quit the game after losing hydraulics in lap 20, running a retarded car with only 7,000 rpm (usually 19,000 rpm).

Oh.. by the way, I watched it live on 8TV 7 oclock in the evening, but they delayed the coverage by resuming it at 8:30 for the 30 minutes Malay news. I found it an insufferably stupid decision, who's (F1 fans) going to watch delayed coverage? It totally flung my excitement out. I was pissed, sent them a negative feedback via email, and forced to catch the latest news in text version.

I know some people will suggest me to get an Astro, but that's not really a smart choice. Firstly, I do not like spending my time in front of the TV, except for F1 and soccer. Secondly, I reckon that it is part of the Astro's game to make us to subscribe its packages, and apparently I won't, at least.. at the moment.

Do not put me into any debate like, "shut up, it's free okay?". I have the carte blanche to complain, and what I want to say is, they are having two channels (TV3 and 8TV) to work out with but they did not plan the schedule very well. The Saturday F1 qualifying session is clashing with 絕對 superstar, the Sunday F1 official race not only is interrupted by 30 minutes news, it is "graciously" delayed as well. I don't mind interrupted live coverage honestly, please, just don't delay it!

They shouldn't have promised about this live coverage thing in the newspaper. Ugh.

Two Ferraris Front Row in Bahrain

Do I have to say more? It's Ferrari's day, to step up again after a long dry season! And Schumi has finally equalled Senna's record (65) for pole positions, one more to go for a brand new record!

Time for party I guess, but Schumi has to takecare abit because he has to be on wheel tomorrow.

2006 Formula 1: A New Beginning

Today is a big day for Formula 1, a brand new season with three major changes: tyre-rules, v8 engine, and qualifying. I have been impatiently waiting since the end of the 2005 season, which was about 5 months ago, and it finally started 15 minutes ago in Bahrain when the clock ticked off at 4 oclock (GMT +8). When the F1 season comes, family members are going to hate me for I will skip having dinner together with them on Saturday and Sunday. Aha, sorry my dears, I can't tell which side is more important!

Anyway, if you have ever read my old blog, you should know that I'm a Scuderia-Ferrari-Marlboro supporter. Last year in Bahrain, it was an utterly bitter experience to Ferrari and huge disappointment to the fans, the F2005 was introduced two races earlier but it failed to deliver what everyone expected. Today in Bahrain, I am still unsure whether Schumi and Massa will be driving the brand new F248 or v8-engined/v10-engined F2004 chasis. But looking at the timesheets of their intensive training in the past few months, I believe they have the potential to fight for the podium.

One thing I like about and wish to learn from Michael Schumacher is his cool manner in responding the press and his known optimistic behavior added with a bit of sense of humours:

Never expected that would happen, as I always thought that Felicity Huffman would be the person to take away the little gold statue with Transamerica. I watched Walk the Line last week, I like Reese and the movie, but I can't really tell whether she deserved the Oscar.

Anyway, I woke up pretty late this morning at 9.30am, and was toiling myself in front of the PC to prepare for my phone-interview at 11.30am, which turned out to be a pretty good one.

Screwed up Movie Worth Watching Sometimes

I have been doing PHP programming these days, so this morning around 2am, I took a break to watch the Shopaholic / 最愛女人購物狂, a CNY Hong Kong screwball comedy starred by Cecilia Cheung, Ella Koon, Ching-Wan Lau, and Jordan Chan. It is a screwed up movie which I expected, predictable in the beginning and chaotic in the end, but it made me laughed alot and I enjoyed so much! (Luckily there's no people around in my neighbourhood, else I would've been reported for making too much noise in the very morning)

I like Cecilia Cheung, mostly because of her husky, contralto and sexy voice, which always reminds me of my aunt. She played a role as a shopaholic (Implusive Disorder) who lost few jobs and incurred a lot of debts, a patient as well as the assistant of a psychologist, Gan Yan (Ching-Wan) with Choice Phobia Disorder. She then met a millionaire - Kong Fu (Jordan), meaning Poor and Wealthy, a serious shopaholic cum cheapskate, who fell for her and another shopaholic who has colossal lack of self-confidence - Ding Ding Dong (Ella).

These four problematic persons then involved in complicated and fascinating relationship, which took the ending half of the entire movie. Paula Tsui / 徐小鳳 played a role as the mentor of Gan Yan and helped them to solve the foursome's choosing problem. Remarkably, the movie showed a zoom on Carl Jung with his quote "Personality type is destiny".

Overall, an entertaining movie, which probably you guys have watched. If you haven't and are looking for lightweight movie for stress relief, you should give it a try.

A short introduction about Tammy: #1 search on Technorati blog finder and other search engines, a 17 years old NYP lady who involved in a sex scandal, recently, having her video spread across the Internet.

So I tried to search for the video clip, as it's the latest and hottest topic in everywhere, link 1, link 2, link 3, link4, ... Spent some hard time, because there were alot of dead links or fake links, which disgusted me the most was: NYP Tammy by Tikopeh. I found some sites with pathetically desperate wankers and I believe there are still alot of ah peks who couldn't reach the resource they want.

The Internet Idiots in the post's title refers to the group of people I last mentioned. Clicking on the results displayed by Google (tammy nyp video) is not going to work, since most of the sites were removed. One of the applicable techniques is to view the search engine's Cached content.

Anyway, the cute girl Tammy is definitely in a mortified spirit and she needs alot of care, but her scandal has made alot of people to ponder over a few things: the trend of private tapping on personal acts, the repressive laws of Singapore against unnatural sex (in Malaysia too), the widespread of information in astonishingly short time over Internet, the accuracy of Internet search engines, etc. And I wish to see some development on these, the case and how people react to it, in the coming days, hopefully.

Department of Veterinary Services sent their crew to Kampung Pasir to collect chickens for culling around 11pm.

I brought Schaefer to my house after having dinner with him, since he wanted to use the Internet to do some stuffs. When I was sending him out of my house, we saw a gang of geared up armies gathered right in front of us. I found it interesting, rushed back to my room, grabbed the camera and started shooting them.

Too bad, I did not have a tripod with me and it was just too dark to capture what my eyeballs easily saw (and I stayed a certain distance, you know, some futile prevention).

They are acceptable, anyway, as Alexi had to pay heed on the guitar riffs and solos, besides, he had been growling for more than 40 minutes since the first song, Bodom after Midnight. For your information, he was only 21 years old that time.

Live performance and studio work are two different things, live comes with a lot of unexpected elements, to be presented and to be affected, which make it so anticipating and exciting, there's an interaction between you and the audiences. In the studio, you pay longer time in processing the track, the outcome is definitely a better molded piece of work.

Third post in the same day. I should have posted this last Tuesday but I was too busy coding PHP.

Since I was (I am still) looking for jobs, owning a handphone number is indispensible. So I went to Lowyat with mom, spent some time to make up the decision to buy O2 XDAii Mini but not Asus P505. Firstly, they were selling with the same price, secondly they have the similar specs, thirdly, O2 XDAii Mini looks cooler, forthly, Asus P505 has a flipable but annoying keypad.

I named her Jen, by inserting 2000 plus songs into my Winamp playlist, then played one by random and it was Less than Jake - Jen Does not Like Me Anymore.

Went Kelana Jaya around 11am to have meeting with Dion and Whei-Meng, to talk about our UltraUnix's recent plans. A lady sitting at the opposite table appeared to be extremely classless and vile, having a sleeveless blouse with unusual big armhole. I find myself not descriptive enough always, so.. read Whei-Meng's blog about the story.

Went back home after that, bathed, and went out again to Whei-Meng's house. Dragged 'til 9am before Wee-Hong joined us to the Curve for dinner. It was unsurprisingly crowded, we stayed about 10 minutes, got happy looking at chicks, and departed to Jalan Alor to meet Dennis, Kang-Ee and Mayvis. And as expected, we spent more than 30 minutes in traffic jam.

Anyway, had a good Valentine's day, woke up this morning and threw the yellow roses a girl asked me to buy for a guy, as he didn't pick them up nor he did contact me. I played around with my camera before chucking them into the bin.

Oh yea, I have just sent out my cover letter and resume to two companies this morning. Wish me luck in job hunting. (:

Went reunion dinner just now at Imbi Palace (皇宮酒家), it was one of the most complete ones the Lian's family had ever had.

Went to One Utama yesterday afternoon to pass Esther her birthday present, a bolster. I know it sounded stupid to carry it from Setapak to One Utama via public transport, but I didn't really care anyway.

Met Anne, her boyfriend (Daryl), Elaine, her boyfriend (Ryan) and Esther when I was having my Toblerone on the bench. We had lunch together (and beer) at Italianis after that. Surprisingly, saw Ju Yuan and his friend (Yu Wei) when we were strolling.

Anyway, my guitar's 3rd string (G) needed a change as it was blunt. So I went into an instrument shop (can't remember its name, somewhere near Popular bookstore) to ask for it:
